A standard commercial setup is more than just a filter; it’s a multi-stage process:
Pre-Treatment: Includes sediment filters to remove dirt and carbon filters to remove chlorine (which can damage the RO membrane).
High-Pressure Pump: Provides the necessary energy to overcome “osmotic pressure,” forcing water through the dense membrane.
RO Membrane Housing: Stainless steel or fiberglass vessels that hold the thin-film composite (TFC) membranes.
Control Panel: Monitors flow rates, pressure levels, and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in real-time.
Post-Treatment: May include UV sterilization or pH adjustment depending on the intended use of the water.
